This site exists to keep the music of New England bands/artists available to the public. Mostly unreleased and out-of-print material is featured here, though sometimes, with the artists' permission, current music may be hosted as well. If you want to submit music for consideration, please contact the site administrator with your information. All artists are encouraged to get a Creative Commons license before submitting music. For more information on CC licenses please check out their website.

Just added a few new things including Backbone, which is Aaron Bedard's (singer of Bane) old band. As well as stuff from The Goonies and 30 Seconds Over Tokyo. I'll be adding some more next week, the first Lot Six 7" among other things.

Things have slowed down with the music archive, I haven't been able to devote much time to it, as I've been pretty busy and haven't had any help. And now I'm going to be going back to school in January, so I'll have just about no free time to work on the site. But don't get me wrong, the music archive is far from dead. This year it will be getting it's own domain, so it will no longer directly be a part of aNewLanguage. And I'm going to keep adding music as I get it, of course. Though, the extra features that I talked about in the last update may not end up happening for quite a while because it's very time-consuming.

Anyway, I'll be adding Five-O-Five's Skating on Uppers CD later this week. As well as Crimson Crimson's CD at some point. Also, I just removed Formicide from the site because they now have a discography CD out on Due Process records. It's all remastered and officially released for the first time, so show your support for independent labels and pick that up if you're into them. That's all for now, and as always, if you have any music to contribute, please get in touch.

It's been a while since the last news update. I've added a few things here and there, but nothing much in a while. Big changed for the site are being planned and I'll be working on them pretty much until the end of the year... when I hope to have it completed.

Some of the things I'll be doing will include a change in site layout, incorporation of a detailed search function so that you can find music based on band members, location, etc. I'm also trying to build a script to gather ID3 info from the audio files themselves, as well as add a function that will zip an entire album folder for easy download. Like I said, it's going to take a little while to get everything working. But in the meantime, the site will be operating as is, and I'll still be adding new music as I get it.

Also, I'm always looking for help in a few areas: Anybody who is good with PHP and wouldn't mind helping me out with a few scripts, it would be much appreciated. Get in touch with me (jarrod at anewlanguage.org). Also, anybody who can provide band info on any of the pages that lack info... and of course anybody that can send me music to put on the site. I accept all hard copy formats (CD, cassette, vinyl, etc), and pretty much any digital format ( mp3, wav, aif, etc). And I have an FTP account set up so you can easily send it to me. Anyway, thats all the news for now, get in touch if you can help with any of that.

Finally, I just posted the ENTIRE discography from The Shods! This includes all the full-lengths, the first EP (the whole thing, not just the songs on the 7"), as well as unreleased stuff and alternate versions of songs. I've also posted a band called Formicide, which was a hardcore band in the late 80's that featured Kevin Stevenson of The Shods.

I just put up almost the entire discography from The Lot Six. Check that out, their new album is especially awesome.

No major music updates just yet. Though in the next couple of weeks I have a ton of music to add to the site. I just wanted to address the current state and future of this site. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the site and I appreciate that, as well as all the people who have contributed to the site thus far. One thing I need to address is that this site is not a means for current bands to promote/advertise themselves. So if you want me to post a couple of songs from your latest release, you're out of luck. If you want me to post the whole release, that's fine. But this isn't MySpace or PureVolume or anything like that.

Anyway, now onto the future of the site. In the coming months, I hope to change the layout and design of the site somewhat. I'm going to add a section that lets people upload music, which I will download, verify, and post. I also want to add a section for people to submit information, because you may have noticed that a lot of bands' pages don't have much, if any, information on them, so I need all the help I can get with getting bands' information. Aside from that, just little advances in the site such as automatic download links (as opposed to links that open the mp3 in your browser), possibly a forum dedicated to the music site, etc. Check back soon for more updates, this site is only just beginning.

I just added a lot of new music to the site. Bread & Roses, Daniel Striped Tiger, Breed/Extinction, The Ames Curve, and Dot Flash Line, just to name a few.

I've added a ton of new stuff recently. Thanks to Joseph Grillo, I was just able to add everything from Garrison and Stricken for Catherine, as well as stuff from Gay for Johnny Depp and Instruction. Some of the other stuff I've added recently includes Transistor Transistor, ElderMoose, There Were Wires, In Public, Moment, and The Kid Eternal... among others. As usual, there's more to come. And if you want to contribute, please do get in touch.

I've made a few changes, primarily I've moved the list of artists to a separate page (the "music" page, obviously). I've added content to the FAQ page, and I've also added more music including Motionless, Phil, Private Army, Good Times, and a few others. You'll notice that a lot of the band's pages don't have much info, no picture, etc. If you can help with any of that, please get in touch. I'll probably be updating tomorrow with more music, so stay tuned kids.

The site is up, though a lot of the music has yet to be added. I need to get music/info/permission from a lot of people still, so I'll be adding new music fairly often. I figured I'd put the site up with what I have now, in the meantime. Anyway, if you have anything to contribute, please email jarrod@anewlanguage.org with the details. Thanks.
